February 2012 has kicked in

Greetings my fellow food monsters,

Wow the last time we had this blog updated was on December 11th 2011. We know it's been a long time since we went out and eat. No, wait. We did go out and eat, we just didn't take photos and blog about it. There are a lot of reasons why we sort of slowed down a little bit and didn't do updates here and there. First and foremost, the new year has kicked in and most people are kind of busy with their own stuff. Spencer (Pong-pong) has left for Johore to further his studies. Betsy, Celeste & Girlie are currently on the move to losing weight; however, they are still active in searching for good places to eat. Moses is busy with his work, but also joins the others to look for good food and Fifie's classes have started. So yeah, great year ahead, no? But of course, despite having a busy schedule, we wont just neglect this blog and leave it in the World Wide Web unattended. We promise to keep you guys posted!

Thank you for reading and we appreciate your support! :)

Chinese wins this.

So in Kota Kinabalu, and pretty much the whole of Sabah is filled with Chinese restaurants - EVERYWHERE. You can't go to a place without at least one Chinese restaurant standing right in front of you. This is serious and a no joke statement. Well maybe in other parts of Sabah, there is a place without a Chinese restaurant, but in KK, nope! There isn't! So, one of our crews suggeted that we should try the Meat Ball or Pork Meat Mee Soup in Melanian, Lintas. For your information, they also have another branch opened in Inanam. Serve exactly the same food; Mee Soup, Konlou Men, tauhu with meat and chicken feet.

This is a shot of the restaurant, from the back because the front side and the inside is full and packed with people. The only space left is at the back.

We had a really good time joking about this black pepper. The story was, when we sat at our table, we only found this. Normally, there would be chili, vinegar and soy sauce. One of us said that the owner was too confident that his soup is too delicious he need not to serve any other additional flavouring to his customers. But truth be told, the others were at the other table.

Konlou Mee + Meat Ball + Wantan + Pork Meat + Tauhu.

True enough, we don't even need black pepper to make it tastes better :D

Something refreshing?

Here's another special post from our writer; homemade Filipino dessert. So what is this dessert called? Of course it's the awesome Leche Flan. Some may call it as the Caramel Cream dessert, or something similar to that. Since this is homemade, there are also Filipino restaurants around KK where you may find cuisines like this is offered. There's Masarap Filipino Cuisine in Lintas and also Tambayan Kainan ng Filipino in Bundusan. To those who are interested, you might wanna give it a try. But we do not highly recommend those places because we've never been there yet. But to those who have been there already, might wanna share their experience or opinion on the food served in those restaurants.

The ingredients needed to make Leche Flan are eggs, condensed milk and sugar! That is all!

Did you guys wonder where did the brown-ish effect is from? Oh, it's the melted sugar. You need to heat it up and of course give proper and full attention while heating it up because you might not get the exact caramel-ish taste that you want. And so after that, all you need to do is pour all the ingredients that you've mixed in together.

The end product of the Leche Flan. Doesn't look good enough for you? Hmm, you might as well wanna give it a try and trust me, that's all you wanna eat for the rest of your... (I might not say life, of course). Maybe for the rest of a week? Yeah most probably.

First Sushi Night?!

Congratulations to the officials (which means US) for making Sushi Night a success. This is our first post about our "homemade" food as well as the first Sushi Night and there are more to come in the future. It was a great experience especially when making them. Making sushi is not as hard as you think it is, but it's not EASY as well! You need a hell lot of patience to make it perfect. Of course it doesn't always turns out perfect. Since this is our first time, we were quite amazed with the outcome.

During the preparation; Seaweed, vegetables, minced chicken, crab stick fillamen and rice.

The making of the SUSHI!

The final roll of the sushi; huge, round and tight :)

The final outcome of our sushi. Sorry for the bad presentation, but they taste good okay :)

Are you a Dumpling fan?

To those who love dumpling, I bet you have been to this restaurant already. But if you haven't, give it a try! I promise you will surely return again for the awesome dumplings they have. It is located in Towering, just right in front of the Music Shop. Exactly opposite of the music shop. If you know where Towering is, of course you'll know where the music shop is. They have other food as well, but one of the most outstanding is this small stall that sells dumplings.

This is the restaurant's name. But outside of it is a small stall that sells dumplings.

And it's only RM6 for 10 pcs. Oh and, they also provide catering :)

Yup, this is the uncle who cooks the dumpling for everyone.

A shot of his small stall. Everyone should really try it! It's just awesome with the taste of perfection when the watery sauce drips down. Oh my, I'm imagining it already.

How did it all start?

Hello dear world,

First and foremost, we would like to thank you for coming down to visit our blog about food around Kota Kinabalu. For those of you who do not know where KK is, it is located in Sabah, Malaysia. The place where people would usually say tropical? Yes, that's the one. Well, to make it clear, we aren't really leaving on trees and banana is not our only source of food. We actually DO have good food over here if ya'll wanna know. So, here's a team of hungry people who are always on a run to look for good food.

How it all started? We were sittin' down at a round table last week and it came to our mind that, why not produce a television show about places to eat? Hmm, but of course we don't have enough budget to do that and most of our members are working, so yeah. It would be troublesome because we only eat out when we get the chance to get together. So, one of us decided that we should take photos of our food and blog about 'em. Since all of us love to eat and talk about it, walaaa! This is the blog that we've been talking about a week ago. :)
